In an exclusive interview with The Associated Press, Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr said that there was no factual evidence on collusion between Russia and the President Donald Trump. Burr said that the investigation took 19 months of his life and it was much more difficult than he originally envisioned. “There is no factual evidence today that there was collusion or conspiracy between Russia and President Donald Trump’s campaign”, the senator said. “The worst thing we can do is to prematurely try to end” the probe, noted Burr and added that there is a handful of people to interview behind closed doors and some who they may want to interview again. However, he did not tell the date of the end of the investigation. The committee is also expected to hold a hearing with Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg and Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey in the first week of September. The independent special Counsel Robert Mueller, the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and U.S. Congress carry out the investigation of Russia’s alleged interference in the American elections, as well as the alleged conspiracy between President Donald Trump and Russia. Moscow has repeatedly denied allegations of trying to influence elections in different countries, and president’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov called them “absolutely unsubstantiated”.
