The office of Ukraine at the statutory bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States was closed in August, said the CIS Executive Secretary Sergey Lebedev in Minsk. “We regret to state that in August, the office of Ukraine at the statutory bodies of the CIS was closed”, Lebedev claimed. Meanwhile Sergey Lebedev noted that the ties with Ukraine are being maintained through the Ukrainian Embassy in Minsk. “I still hope that Ukraine will preserve its presence within the CIS”, Lebedev said. At the same time he said that Ukraine would get an invitation to participate in the Meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government to be held in Astana on November 2. “Ukraine has not quitted the Commonwealth, de jure it remains a state party, so we keep sending all documents and invitations to Ukraine”, Lebedev said.
