Moldova will not become a member of the European Union over the next 10-15 years, Chisinau does not need to join NATO either, stated the President of the Republic Igor Dodon in an interview with TASS. “I am sure that  the Europeans also are talking about this openly –Moldova will not be a member of the European Union over the next 10-15 years. And the European Union itself needs to figure out what is happening there, - the president stressed. – To tell us that tomorrow we will rush to this train, which loses its cars? England leaves [the EU], no one knows what will happen next”, tass.ru reports. He expressed hope that Moldova will “follow its neutral status”. “We don't need this [joining NATO],” said the president. - As a country we will not survive if we become a member of some military bloc, if we talk about NATO. There is a principled stand, we must have a neutral position”. “Why should we invest hundreds of millions in the purchasing of various weapons? We need to build schools, kindergartens. We need to invest in infrastructure. Do we have nothing to do?” added Dodon. He noted that, according to polls, the overwhelming majority of Moldovan citizens are also against membership in the alliance. Point.md
