Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, after meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, said that his country was interested in a reliable energy supply and would continue to promote the Nord Stream 2 project. “He (Trump) clearly expressed that the United States opposed this project, we already know that. We support this project because we are interested in the reliability of the power supply in Austria”, said Mr. Kurz in an interview with ORF. “In the EU, finally, there is agreement on this project, and we will continue to promote this project. We would have no problems buying gas in the U.S., but as long as the price in Russia is better than in the U.S., Russia is more attractive to us as a partner in this matter”, said Sebastian Kurz. Earlier the EU Member States approved a compromise amendment to the gas directive previously agreed by the Romanian Presidency of the EU Council and the European Parliament. The rules governing the EU's internal gas market will in future also apply to gas pipelines to and from third countries. Source: kommersant
