Trio Strategy 2030 was created for Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, and envisages providing these countries with the prospect of EU membership. The EU should support the economic integration of countries that have entered into association agreements – Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova – and develop a qualitatively new strategy for the Eastern Partnership, stated the chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament David McAllister, reports Ukrinform on Thursday, November 28. It is noted that David McAllister came forward with such an initiative with in Strasbourg during the hearings on the Eastern Partnership program. “We should focus on incentives for partners to continue the development of democracy and an independent judiciary. If we want to take advantage of the maximum dynamics and energy of the Eastern Partnership, we must develop a qualitatively different approach. One of the ideas is Trio Strategy 2030, which provides for focused work with Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova,” said McAllister. He noted that the EU is actively supporting the countries of the Eastern Partnership and expects serious efforts from partners in internal transformations. “The Eastern Partnership is part of a long-term strategy that seeks to curb Russia’s actions. We need to show that positive changes are possible. We will work with the new European Commission to achieve our goals, which we must set for the next Eastern Partnership summit,” the politician added. It is noted that, as part of the development of the Eastern Partnership concept, a group of Lithuanian MPs in the European Parliament proposed Trio Strategy 2030 initiative, which provides for enhanced cooperation with countries that have association agreements with the EU – Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. The initiative provides these countries with the prospect of EU membership, which will be clearly determined by successes in economic reforms, social transformations and democratic development. As reported, the EU called Ukraine the engine of the Eastern Partnership. Ukraine has carried out more reforms than all other members of the association have. korrespondent
