The country's government has formally requested from Turkey "air, ground and sea" military support. The Libyan Government of National Accord (internationally recognized) has formally requested military support from Turkey, Reuters reports. According to media reports, Libya formally requested Turkey’s "air, ground and sea" military support to fend off an offensive of eastern forces to take the capital Tripoli. Earlier, Erdogan asked the parliament for permission to send an army to Libya. The Turkish president wants to send an army in support of the Libyan president, who is fighting against General Khalifa Haftar. Erdogan also added that Turkey sends troops to where it is invited. Note that since 2011 there has been a war in Libya, the main opponent of the GNA remains the army of Field Marshal Haftar, who is now leading an attack on Tripoli. On December 19, the Haftar army announced its advance to the center of Tripoli. The offensive on the Libyan capital is supported by aviation. The GNA claims to have established control over new positions.
