At the plenary session, the State Duma approved the appointment of the current head of the Federal Tax Service, Mikhail Mishustin, to the post of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. President Vladimir Putin proposed his candidacy the day after the cabinet’s dismissal led by Dmitry Medvedev. This morning, the prime minister candidate met with all the factions represented in the State Duma. The Communist Party decided to abstain on vote on his candidacy, Yedinaya Rossiya (United Russia), LDPR and Spravedlivaya Rossiya (Fair Russia) were in favor. Now Mikhail Mishustin steps up to the formation of a government. Meanwhile, the duties are performed by members of Medvedev’s Cabinet of Ministers. Speaking to the State Duma at a plenary meeting, Mishustin outlined the priorities of his government. He said that Russia has all sources to achieve the goals set by the head of state. Mishustin, in particular, voiced plans to “regain the lost trust between the government and business,” to speed up work on national projects, and improve the investment climate.
