Pavel Filip, leader of the Democratic Party (PDM), said the party had no alternative to form a parliamentary majority other than PSRM. This was stated by Filip in the Punctul pe Azi program on TVR Moldova, tvrmoldova.md reports. “Our ideological views are different, but what alternatives did we have? On the one hand, it was the ACUM bloc, the Shor party and the Candu group, with which we would not have a parliamentary majority. I was open for discussion with the ACUM block, but I did not see the openness on their part,” the PDM leader said. Pavel Filip noted that the decision of the PDM to form a parliamentary majority with the socialists was supposed to increase the efficiency of the executive branch. “For us it was less important who was the partner, the main thing was to do something good for the Republic of Moldova. The decision was not easy, we are well aware of the responsibility we bear. In addition to this crisis (COVID-19), I don’t think we should add another crisis - a political one, which would mean early elections. The minority rule could not continue,” said Pavel Filip, who added that the alliance will exist as long as the provisions of the Agreement signed between the two political groups are respected. He also said that during the negotiations with the socialists there were discussions that the PDM should receive one of the first posts in the government - the speaker of parliament or the prime minister. “During the negotiations, we discussed equal distribution of posts. After the presidential election, we will discuss areas of responsibility, including one of the main posts in the state,” Pavel Filip said.
