The next week - from April 6 to 12 - will again be a week off in Russia. Kommersant’s special correspondent Andrei Kolesnikov reported, following the remote meeting between President Vladimir Putin and members of government.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor and the chief sanitary doctor Anna Popova together with Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova voiced the proposal to extend the non-working period in Russia. Popova reminded that the incubation period of coronavirus is 14 days therefore, the breakdown time of the bonds at which the virus is transmitted should be a multiple of 14 days. Moreover, according to her even these two weeks are not enough, there "should be more."

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova in turn asked the Russian president to extend " citizens’ social distance measures " taking into account the epidemiological situation in each region of the country.

Vladimir Putin declared a non-working week from March 30 to April 5 due to coronavirus pandemic. Afterwards, Moscow and the Moscow region, where the largest number of cases of COVID-19 infection were detected, introduced a comprehensive self-isolation regime. Most of the Russian regions followed their example.

The State Duma, in turn, adopted a number of laws aimed at combating the coronavirus spread. Among them are fines for violating quarantine and providing government with the right to declare an emergency mode in the country. Yesterday they were signed by the president.

As of April 1, the police already compiled 1250 protocols for coronavirus self-isolation regime violators. This reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ press service.

As of April 2, 3548 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Russia.
