Maia Sandu, Chairman of the Party of Action and Solidarity, shared her opinion on the future of the ACUM bloc. She noted in an interview with agora.md that the ACUM bloc “exists in the format of parliamentary cooperation (between the PAS and the DA Platform factions - “I.”), but not as a separately registered formation,” infotag.md reports. “It was an electoral bloc. After the elections (parliamentary on February 24, 2019 - “I.”) we exist as two separate parties, but this does not mean that we cannot interact,” she said. Answering the question whether the bloc for the presidential election will be newly formed, Sandu noted that this issue still “needs to be discussed”. “But we (together with the DA Platform - “I.”) managed to take part in three election cycles. We are two parties that share common goals. And therefore we want to proceed as a united front in order to fulfill these goals for the benefit of citizens,” she said. At the same time, Sandu noted that “the issue of the presidential election was not raised” at a recent meeting with the DA Platform representatives. “First of all, we discussed the initiative with a vote of no confidence, which they prepared to make the government resign. We emphasized that it is necessary to think about what will happen after a possible resignation, how we can form a new government,” she said. She admitted that appointing a new cabinet is “a big issue”. “The parliament has no 51 votes to support a new government with decent people. If the DA Platform and our faction were supported by the majority in parliament, we would have already proposed a government capable of solving both the problems with the economy and the coronavirus pandemic. But the main problem is that there are no votes,” she said, making it clear that the two factions did not want to vote together with the Pro Moldova group and the Shor faction.
