The Alliance for Inclusive Vaccine will ramp up vaccine development in Europe. Four EU countries are already negotiating with various pharmaceutical companies. Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands have formed an alliance to accelerate the production of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus vaccines in Europe. The four largest economies in Europe are “jointly considering various promising initiatives and negotiating with various pharmaceutical companies,” said the Dutch Ministry of Health on Wednesday, June 3. “The goal of the “Alliance for Inclusive Vaccine” is to ensure that vaccines can be produced in Europe wherever possible. Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands are convinced that a successful outcome requires a joint strategy and investment,” the statement reads. The document also says that “the alliance is looking at promising vaccine development initiatives to provide the right amount of vaccine for the European Union and other countries, especially for poor countries in Africa.” According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 130 coronavirus vaccines are currently being developed worldwide. At least 10 of them are already at the stage of clinical trials.
