There are no contacts between the presidents of Ukraine and Belarus, Volodymyr Zelensky and Alexander Lukashenko, and there are no planned ones, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated. Contacts between Ukraine and Belarus are "paused". They will be restored only when the situation does not harm Ukraine's reputation. This announced the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba on Thursday, August 27 in the TV program "The Right to Power". According to the head of the diplomatic department, the presidents, Volodymyr Zelensky and Alexander Lukashenko, do not maintain contacts at the moment. "After the elections, they did not contact each other. The President of Ukraine recently spoke about the need to hold elections in Belarus. There are no contacts between the presidents yet and there are no planned ones," Kuleba said. He also noted that contacts between the countries will be restored when the situation "is not to bear reputational consequences for Ukraine." Recall, since August 9, mass protests against the results of the presidential elections (that have brought victory to the current head of state Alexander Lukashenko) take place in Belarus. Earlier, official Kiev joined the EU's statement on the presidential elections in Belarus calling them not meeting international standards. Also, the Coordination Council of the opposition of Belarus appealed to foreign partners with a request to refrain from statements about representing the interests of the Belarusian society and about rendering assistance to the Coordinating Council.
