Three more presidential candidates in Moldova submitted registration documents for initiative groups to the Central Election Commission (CEC). These are the Shor party representative Violetta Ivanov and two independent candidates Ion Costas and Constantin Oboroc. CEC announced this on September 7. As the CEC noted, within three days, the commission will check whether the submitted documents have been correctly prepared and will decide on the registration of initiative groups. It should be noted that Costas already tried to register the initiative group on September 2, but the CEC refused him. The commission explained that when forming the initiative group and submitting documents, he did not comply with the law. Recall that General Ion Costas headed the Ministry of Defense in the nineties and before that he held the post of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the republic. Former adviser to Mircea Snegur, the first President of Moldova, ex-deputy and former Deputy Prime Minister Constantin Oboroc expressed his intention to run for president after a group of activists appealed him with such a request.
