The United States witnesses a record early vote: more than half of all voters of 2016 had already voted a week before the elections. More than 70 million American voters have voted early in the presidential elections a week before they were officially held. These are the data of the United States Elections Project, led by Professor Michael MacDonald of University of Florida. As of Wednesday morning, October 28, almost 70.5 million voters had already voted ahead of schedule, which is more than half of the total number of voters who voted in the 2016 elections. Back then, 138.8 million people cast their votes. Based on the Project’s data, more Democratic Party members than Republicans have registered for early elections. The DPA agency, citing the analysts, emphasizes that such a massive early voting is in favor of Joe Biden, who urged his supporters to cast their votes early. Donald Trump, on the other hand, has repeatedly stated that he fears manipulation and falsification during early voting. The US presidential election will end on November 3.
