Zelensky said that a stable gas supply for 10-15 years should become a guarantee of Ukraine's security if the Nord Stream-2 is launched. Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about a future contract for gas transit through Ukraine after the launch of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. As he stressed, Russia will adhere to its obligations. He stated this on Tuesday, July 13, in an interview on News24 Russia. According to him, Gazprom signed a five-year contract to pump Russian gas through the territory of Ukraine. And, "despite some of the difficulties of today, Russia has assumed obligations under this contract and will certainly fulfill them." Recall that the Ukrainian government fears that Moscow will abandon the gas contract through Ukraine after the launch of Nord Stream 2, which is supposed to connect Russia and Germany bypassing Ukrainian territory. Naftogaz stated that the transit of Russian gas is holding back Russia from escalating its aggression against Ukraine. Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky called NS-2 a topic to be raised in the Normandy format. We should not forget about the risk that Ukraine may be cut off from gas, Zelensky said.
