President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen will represent the European Union at the summit in Kiev.
In Kiev, on Tuesday, October 12, the 23rd Ukraine-European Union Summit begins. Within its framework, a number of agreements are planned to be signed. This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.
The event will be chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, President of the European Council Charles Michel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The leaders will discuss the achievements and prospects of interaction between Ukraine and the EU in implementing the Association Agreement, a deep and comprehensive free trade zone, ensuring energy security and deepening sectoral cooperation.
The agenda also includes issues of cooperation in the field of security and defense, the development of the situation in Donbass and in the occupied Crimea.
Within the framework of the summit, it is planned to sign a number of agreements between Ukraine and the European Union.
A joint statement will be adopted based on the results of the summit.
Earlier it was reported that an open skies agreement is expected to be signed at the summit to enable some low-cost airlines in Ukraine, which will significantly contribute to the growth of the country's economy in the field of tourism.
