The Association Trio states – Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia – have reached new agreements on cooperation on their way to membership in the European Union.
According to the publication, the Presidents of Ukraine and Moldova, as well as the Prime Minister of Georgia, signed a new document during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Brussels, in which they agreed on the need to “strengthen coordination on issues of common interest, including recognition by the European Union of the European Perspective of the Association Trio,” reports infotag.md with reference to epravda.com.ua .
“Until this day, there has been no such mechanism, including due to Chisinau’s unwillingness to raise the issue of membership prospects, which is sensitive for the EU. In this document, Moldova agreed to jointly demand that Brussels provide a European perspective,” the newspaper writes.
In the document, the heads of the three countries confirmed their determination, “reinforced by the strong will of our peoples, to act to obtain membership in the European Union.”
“In this regard, we call on the European Union to support the sovereign choice of our states, together with all the relevant steps we have taken towards European integration, and to recognize the European Perspective of Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine,” the document emphasizes.
