Vladimir Putin proposed to the State Duma to adopt a law that facilitates obtaining Russian citizenship The draft law provides for a reduction in the number of requirements for more than 20 categories of persons when accepting citizenship of the Russian Federation. Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed to the State Duma to adopt a new law that facilitates obtaining Russian citizenship. This is reported on the Duma’s website. The draft law provides for a reduction in the number of requirements for more than 20 categories of persons when accepting citizenship of the Russian Federation. We are talking about persons who were citizens of the former USSR, as well as their children. In addition, the facilitated acquisition of Russian citizenship will also apply to persons who have close relatives in Russia – citizens of the Russian Federation, including those who have relatives “in a direct ascending line” who have permanently resided in the territory belonging to the Russian Empire or the USSR within the current border of the Russian Federation (including Crimea). Russian Citizenship can be attributed to: persons born on the territory of the Russian Federation (territory of the RSFSR) before February 6, 1992; persons who have at least one of the parents who as to their day of birth had been a citizen of the former USSR and permanently resided on the territory of the Russian Federation (of the Russian Federation); the soldiers who had taken the oath of allegiance to the USSR or the Russian Federation, and held as of 6 February 1992 service in the army, which was under the jurisdiction of Russia and located on the territories of other States. It is envisaged that the President of Russia will be able, at his discretion (and not only for humanitarian purposes), to determine the categories of persons to receive the right to facilitated Russian citizenship. This will apply to citizens of Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and Kazakhstan. Earlier it was reported that in two years Russia has issued almost 530 thousand passports to residents of the unregulated part of Donbass. Корреспондент
