The head of Chisinau Balkan Centre Sergei Manastirli in a conversation with Kommersant
called the situation with Igor Dodon and the socialists a real cleansing.
According to him, the aim of this cleansing is to ensure sociopolitical stability and to preempt the emergence of a well-organized opposition inside the country if the situation on the borders of Moldova changes, kommersant.ru reports.
He believes that “in the future one can expect the ban of the Party of Socialists”, which is currently the only structured opposition political force in the country.
“Every sign indicates that there will be no forces in the country that would support at least the dialogue with Russia, not to mention those who would support a rapprochement with Moscow,” Sergei Manastirli concluded.
