Moldovan President Maia Sandu has called “fakes” the statements made by opposition parties, as well as by the Russian Foreign Ministry, about the infringement of the rights of the Russian-speaking population. Sandu made the statement on 15 December on TVR Moldova’s Punctul pe AZi. The head of state stressed that the country’s authorities take decisions based solely on the interests of all citizens. “Nothing threatens the Russian-speaking people in Moldova. They are respected just like Romanian speakers and all other citizens. The decision to print ballot papers only in the state language will not be an obstacle to voting. I promised this and therefore we will treat everyone with respect and take care of people’s safety and well-being. Nothing has changed since then. Everything else is accusations and attempts to destabilize the situation in Moldova,” Sandu said.
