Key aspects and areas of work of the new EU High-Level Advisers’ Mission were discussed on Tuesday during the first meeting and presentation of the new project of the European Union High-Level Advisers’ Mission.
The meeting was attended by Igor Talmazan, Secretary General of the Government, Andrian Balucel, Secretary of State of the State Chancellery, Irina Cruceru, a programme manager on good governance and anti-corruption at the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Pavlos Kollias, the mission’s team head, and Jana Gaină, communications expert, moldpres.md reports with reference to the government’s press and protocol department.
During the discussions, the parties noted that high-level European Union advisers will provide expertise to Moldovan central public authorities and their subordinated institutions in such fields as domestic security, coordination of reforms, customs and tax policies, education and research, energy, fight against corruption, environmental transition, etc.
Other priority areas will be identified in accordance with the Association Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement.
During the discussions, the head of the State Chancellery thanked the project team for assistance provided by high-level EU advisors in the framework of the 2019-2022 program, and welcomed the opening of a new mission in our country.
The European Union High Level Advisers’ Mission project aims to strengthen sectoral policy making, strategic planning and policy management, increase stakeholders’ knowledge and awareness of EU policies, legislation and regulations, strengthen capacity building in central-level state institutions in the Republic of Moldova.
Other components of the project include short-term deployment of experts for specific tasks related to the implementation of the Association Agreement, as well as internship programs for local students and young graduates in Moldovan state institutions.
