Moldovan Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii told about low possibility of a military confrontation or direct military aggression against Moldova nowadays. “We have to use this time to increase operational capabilities, train troops, strengthen defense capabilities, prepare the reserve and the necessary human and logistical resources,” the Defense Minister said. “Moldova has sufficient forces and means to withstand the challenges that may come from the Russian troops illegally deployed on the territory of the Republic,” Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii said in an interview with Radio Romania Actualității, as Radio Chisinau reports. He also touched upon Moldova’s relations with NATO. “The decision on Moldova’s accession to NATO depends on people. When this decision is made, we will specifically discuss the accession plan,” the Minister said. According to Anatolie Nosatii, fulfilling the tasks of interoperability with the North Atlantic Alliance was a priority for the armed forces of the Republic of Moldova. “We have focused on military training in all categories, reorganized our structures, reorganized our training in accordance with Western standards. We conduct exercises on the territory of our country and in other countries, which allows our military to acquire those standards that allow us to operate in an organized manner, at the proper level with partners not only in the North Atlantic Alliance, but also in other countries of stable partnership,” Anatolie Nosatii concluded, adding that “to be neutral does not mean to be vulnerable”. “It doesn’t mean being isolated, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be in solidarity with other nations, as in the case of Ukraine, and it doesn’t mean you don’t need to develop your national defense system,” Anatolie Nosatii said.
