As of today, the state of emergency is into force throughout the country. It was extended by the Parliament due to the war in Ukraine. The state of emergency will be in force for another 60 days. The decision was approved by the parliamentary majority at the last plenary meeting of the spring-summer session.
The extension of the state of emergency had taken place due to Russian drone and cruise missile strikes on the port areas of the Black Sea and the Danube, near Moldova’s border, which had created a serious security situation, Prime Minister Dorin Recean said from the parliamentary rostrum.
The state of emergency in Moldova was introduced on 24 February 2022, when the war in Ukraine started. Later, it was extended several times.
