“7 August. Every year on this day the world remembers Russia’s aggression against Georgia. Fifteen years have already passed. Russian occupation remains - the wound on the body of the Georgian state remains. Many words have already been said that if the world had been resolute then, in 2008, many things would have been different,” he said.
According to him, even then Russia should have realized that it is the aggressor who pays more for aggression and “they should definitely understand it now”. As Zelensky said in Georgian, in the end “freedom will win, Georgia will win, Ukraine will win.”
“When Ukraine wins this war, it will stop the expansion of Russian aggressive desires and save other nations from what we - and Ukraine, and Georgia, and Moldova - are experiencing. Our victory will return stability to everyone - it will remove the Russian occupation,” the Ukrainian president said.
Zelensky outlined that Ukrainians are in solidarity with the people of Georgia and thanked all the citizens of Georgia, who together with Ukrainians “defend freedom, and especially those who are fighting as part of the defense forces in Ukraine”.
We shall recall that in early June, Zelensky had already said during his visit to Moldova that the format for resolving the Transnistrian conflict should be determined immediately after Ukraine wins the war against Russia. According to the Ukrainian president, “all this will be over when we are done with Russia’s aggression and many different security issues are resolved”.
