The president comments on the scandals involving the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, Veronica Dragalin. In an interview with Ziarul de Gradă, Maia Sandu said that Veronica Dragalin won the competition for the post of head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office. At the same time, according to the president, the official identified and exposed “the main problem - corruption in the prosecutor’s office and judicial system”. “The society is waiting for this problem to be solved. We should expect that people who struggle against corruption will be attacked by those who don’t want it. This is why it is important to strengthen our efforts. The struggle against corruption in Moldova requires the united efforts of those who sincerely want to rid the country of it,” Sandu said. The latest scandal involving Veronica Dragalin is related to her diploma from the USA, which was recognized in Moldova post facto. The official claims that she has all the necessary studies and qualifications, but the document could not be approved in time because the current head of the APO could not come to Moldova in time due to the war in Ukraine.
