Former Interior Minister Ana Revenco is ready to head the National Centre for Information Protection and Countering Propaganda. She said so on social media, commenting on the offer from the head of state, Maia Sandu.
As Revenco noted, being nominated for this position by the President of the country was a great honor and responsibility.
“If I run this Centre, I will do my best to ensure proper functioning of such an important institution to secure social stability in our country. External influences and information manipulations, fakes and hybrid attacks cause as much damage as wars and crime. I will do my best to ensure that we all live in a free and informed society,” she wrote on Facebook.
Revenco also added that she would not make any other statements to the media before her confirmation in office.
The head of the National Centre for Information Protection and Countering Propaganda is appointed by the Parliament on the proposal of the President for a 5-year term with the possibility of reappointment.
