The announcement was made on Wednesday during Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu’s visit to Kyiv.
“I welcome the joint statement by President Zelensky and Prime Minister Ciolacu confirming that Romanian is the official language for the Romanian-speaking community in Ukraine. This is an important decision that strengthens the unity of our countries,” the Moldovan president said, rupor.md reported.
The Cotroceni leader said that the language called Moldovan is “artificial”. He said the move was strategic for Ukraine’s partnership with Romania.
“I welcome the step taken by the Ukrainian government to fulfil the agreement on the issue of the so-called ‘Moldovan’ artificial language, which I reached last week with President Zelenskyy in Bucharest. An important step for building a strong strategic partnership between the states and societies of Romania and Ukraine,” the Romanian head of state said.
And the Romanian foreign minister welcomed the decision. According to her, it is important for both states.
