The head of Moldova’s Interpol, Viorel Țentiu, said that he had received Russia’s reply to the request made a few days ago regarding the extradition of Ilan Șor, who was in Moscow at that moment.
Russian authorities said they could not intervene in the case, citing Article 3 of the Constitution, which stipulates Interpol’s non-participation in political matters.
“However, in 2021, the Case Control Commission stated that Moldova’s request to declare Șor internationally wanted, requesting his arrest and extradition, is perfectly legal and complies with the provisions of both the Constitution and Article 3 and the rules on information processing,” Viorel Țentiu, the head of Interpol Moldova, says.
He also said that Interpol’s general secretariat in Leon had sent a similar request to the authorities in Russia and Israel.
