A video of a group of soldiers and officers from Ukraine published on a social network has frightened Moldovans. The servicemen were spotted in Ungheni; the citizens of the neighboring country said that they had arrived for training but had not provided details. This topic was also discussed at the parliamentary session. The Socialists demanded explanations from the PAS parliamentary majority, including a hearing with Interior Minister Adrian Efros. PAS MP Lilian Carp provided clarification: “A seminar organized by the General Inspectorate of Border Police together with the Frontex mission is taking place. It is a training course on combating illicit trafficking in arms, ammunition and explosives, aimed at a group of trainees from the Border Guard Service of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the Customs Police Service of Ukraine. We share a common border, let’s not forget that there is a war going on in Ukraine. I understand that someone is trying to mislead public opinion about ‘little green men’, but there were ‘little green men’ in Crimea, in Donbas, in Luhansk. The Republic of Moldova hosts a training process on how to deal with the actions that can happen because of the war in Ukraine started by Russia. The training takes place in Ungheni, but it also takes place on all borders where there are points of contact with Ukraine,” said PAS MP Lilian Carp.
