British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is to announce the largest military aid package to Ukraine during his visit to Poland. This is stated in the message of the British government press service.
According to the report, during a trip to Poland on Tuesday, 23 April, Sunak is expected to announce a £500m increase in aid to Ukraine and the largest batch of military aid, which will include:
60 boats, including offshore raid boats and diving boats, as well as naval guns;
more than 1,600 combat and air defense missiles, as well as additional Storm Shadow long-range precision missiles;
more than 400 vehicles, including 160 Husky protected vehicles, 162 armored vehicles and 78 cross-country vehicles;
nearly four million rounds of small arms ammunition.
According to Sunak, excerpts from whose statement are quoted in the document; the new aid package should allow Ukraine to “give a decisive response to Russia”.
The head of the British government also repeated the thesis that Russia “will not stop at the border with Poland” if allowed to prevail in the conflict with Ukraine. “This record military aid package will provide President Zelensky and his brave nation with more resources needed to restore peace and stability in Europe,” British Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said.
During his visit, Sunak will discuss the war in Ukraine, the UK’s efforts to support European security and Ukraine with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Sunak and Tusk will also discuss deepening British-Polish relations. The British Prime Minister will then travel to Germany, where he will meet Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin.
