NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will take part in the EU Defense Ministers’ Meeting on Tuesday, May 28. The North Atlantic Alliance press release says this. The meeting will take place in Brussels in the Europa building, which is the seat of the European Union Council. According to the EU Council, top diplomat Josep Borrell will chair the meeting. The participants will discuss EU support for Ukraine and summarize various ongoing military initiatives, the statement says. ‘EU defense ministers will have the opportunity for an informal exchange with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who will provide an update on the latest developments and Ukraine’s most pressing needs,’ the statement notes. The day before, the European Union foreign ministers together with their Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba discussed further military support for Kyiv and restrictions on the use of Western weapons for strikes against Russia. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg insists that allies need to reconsider restrictions on Ukraine’s ban on hitting Russia with Western weapons amid border fighting in Kharkiv Region. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has spoken out against Ukraine’s use of weapons provided by Western allies to strike Russia.
