The Supreme Court of Justice rejected the complaint of parties associated with fugitive politician Ilan Sor against the Central Election Commission, which refused to register the Victoria-Victory electoral bloc in the October 20 elections.
The decision of the SCJ was announced today in the absence of the parties.
On August 7, the CEC refused to register the block, citing a number of inconsistencies. The bloc was to include the Political Party Revival, the Political Party Alternative Forces of Salvation of Moldova, the Political Party Chance and the Political Party Victory. The decision of the CEC was challenged, and the Chisinau Appeals Chamber upheld the refusal of the Central Election Commission to register the bloc. Representatives of the formations appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice.
Members of Ilan Sor’s team stated that the decision of the Central Election Commission to refuse to register the bloc is political and represents a “top-down mission”. Meanwhile, on the basis of the Balti court’s decision, the activities of the Chance party were restricted for 3 months.
