Russia’s war against Ukraine may end diplomatically. A cease-fire could be the first step. This was stated by the future adviser to US President-elect Donald Trump on national security Mike Waltz, reports RBC Ukraine with reference to his interview with ABC News. Donald Trump’s future national security adviser said the ceasefire is an important step to help the sides move toward a negotiated solution. “Well, we’d like to see a ceasefire any minute, any day. I think that would be a positive - an incredibly positive first step on both sides. And it would put us within the framework of a certain type of negotiated solution,” he emphasized. He said that a diplomatic solution to the conflict is inevitable, although a complete expulsion of Russian troops, particularly from Crimea, is considered unrealistic. “Everybody knows that this has to end somehow diplomatically. I just don’t think it’s realistic to say that we’re going to expel every Russian from every inch of Ukrainian land, even from Crimea. President Trump has recognized this reality,” Waltz stressed. He also noted the importance of preventing further escalation, which could have global ramifications. “We’re already seeing North Korea, we’re seeing, you know, grumblings from South Korea. That can expand, and that’s something we have to stop,” the adviser emphasized. Trump plans to meet with Putin Recall that during a recent speech to Republican governors, Trump said that Vladimir Putin had expressed a desire to meet. In particular, he added that the meeting is already being prepared, but did not specify concrete dates. Meanwhile, spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed that Putin, for his part, is ready to meet with Trump and “no conditions for this are required.”
