The Moldovan Foreign Ministry announced the unilateral termination of the intergovernmental agreement with Russia on the establishment and functioning of cultural centers signed in 1998. This decision was taken in response to another flagrant violation of the country’s airspace by Russian drones, rupor.md reported. The Foreign Ministry urgently summoned the Russian ambassador to Chisinau, expressing strong protest and presenting the wreckage of the drones that had fallen on Moldovan territory. The Russian diplomat was told that such actions constitute a serious threat to national security and are another unfriendly step on Moscow’s part. “After the completion of all legal procedures, the Russian Cultural Centre in Chisinau will cease its activity. This is a direct consequence of the Russian Federation’s repeated disregard for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity”, the ministry stressed. The Foreign Ministry also reiterated its demand that Russia immediately stop any violations of Moldovan airspace and respect the country’s independence.
