Government spokesman Daniel Voda clarified that this money is not “out of people’s pockets” but is already taxed by the state and citizens can send it to “the address of the association concerned”.
“We are approaching the period when our compatriots will submit income declarations to the State Tax Inspectorate. At the same time, every citizen can direct 2% to a cause he or she believes in or considers important.
Support can be given to an NGO, non-profit organization or any entity eligible to divert this 2% of income.
Attention, this money is not extra, it’s not out of your pocket, it’s basically money that the state has taxed, but it can be directed as a result of your request to the appropriate association.
NGOs that receive these funds must fulfil the following criteria: to be officially registered, not to have debts to the state and not to carry out political activities,” Voda said, newtv.md reported.
2024 was the eighth year during which taxpayers - individuals in the Republic of Moldova had the right to redirect 2% of their income tax to a non-profit organization or a religious organization.
