Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu urged Russia to “be patient” as Moscow’s ambassador in Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, will be invited to present his credentials at the “right time”. “What’s Mr Ozerov in a hurry? Everything has its time. Patience, more respect for the Republic of Moldova, and one day this will happen, which they are looking forward to. Everything has its time. He will wait until he is invited to present his accreditation letter. There are probably more important things to do. Like I said, all in good time and more respect. And then things will go faster,” Grosu said, according to realitatea.md. On Wednesday, 5 March, Moldovan Ambassador to the Russian Federation Lilian Darii was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. The Moldovan diplomat was asked for explanations in connection with the failure of Oleg Ozerov to receive accreditation from President Maia Sandu. The Moldovan ambassador was given the text of the Vienna Convention and a note verbale with a request to explain the reasons for the Moldovan side’s violation of its provisions regarding the uniformity of practice applied to heads of diplomatic missions and the procedure for presenting credentials. Shortly thereafter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a public reaction, stated that it was the exclusive prerogative of the host state to set the date and organize the accreditation ceremony in accordance with diplomatic customs and the agenda of the relevant institutions.
