PAS MP Dorian Istratii spoke to railway workers who held a protest outside the government and parliament today demanding their salaries. He said that “the new head of the company intends to solve this problem”. “There is no parliament to pay the salaries of Moldova Railway employees, it should be done by the company,” Istratii said, unimedia.info reported. “We understand your situation very well and for that reason we appointed a direct supervisor and then another director to improve the situation. Unfortunately, every candidate who came to power and said they could solve this problem did not end up achieving the initial goal. That is our reality. In the next amendment to the budget, we will allocate 100 million lei for the maintenance of infrastructure, not for salaries. Financial resources will already be allocated from the enterprise budget to pay your salaries. I understand your discontent, but there is a reality when a company is inefficient and cannot pay salaries. We want to solve this problem the way it is done all over the world: the state can support the development of the company’s infrastructure, but salaries will be paid by the company. I believe that all employees have seen how the situation in the railway company has been managed, and I am not the person who can tell you that it has been managed ineffectively for 30 years. We are allocating additional funds to develop the infrastructure of this facility, to build railway tracks and to repair them. We want to develop this institution, and that is why we are giving it this financial support. The justice reform process is very complex and takes time. Not everything happens as quickly as we would like it to, and those who have wasted funds will be held accountable. A new interim director has recently been appointed to address this issue,” said Dorian Istratii.
