The chairman of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova stated that he would discuss with his colleagues the possibility of including the word ‘Sovereigntists’ in the party’s name, as it ‘would reflect the party’s doctrine and promoted values’. Igor Dodon shared this in an interview with the Unimedia portal. “This is the future, and we are talking not only about the Republic of Moldova, but also about what is happening with our neighbors and even in the region. Over time, the PSRM may become the Sovereigntist Party of the Republic of Moldova. This is the first time I am announcing this strategic decision, which needs to be discussed with colleagues. It is a very serious matter. If we look at the trends in Europe, the doctrine promoted by the PSRM is more sovereigntist than socialist. Socialists in the EU, for example, are those who are not opposed to LGBT rights, whereas we are more conservative, sovereigntists,” said Igor Dodon.
