This was written by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos on Platform X after a telephone conversation with Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna. “[We had] a productive call with Deputy Prime Minister Olha Stefanishyna to reiterate our support to opening Cluster 1 with Ukraine and Moldova simultaneously and as soon as possible,” Marta Kos said, according to Logos-Press. She said Ukraine had made “significant progress in reforms” and the European Commission had given a clear positive recommendation to the EU Council to move forward with the first cluster. Last week, Marta Kos said the EU might consider a separate accession process for Moldova, separating it from Ukraine because of Hungary’s resistance in talks with Kyiv. “We are already discussing with member states what to do because no member state is against opening the first cluster of negotiations with Moldova,” she said, adding that Hungary so far only opposes Ukraine’s EU accession.
