Alexandru Slusari stated that “in the current crisis situation in the country, I am ready to take on the position of Minister of Agriculture in a pro-European government – one that can lead Moldova into the EU with its head held high and with the utmost consideration for the interests of domestic producers.” He wrote this on social media while commenting on the circulating rumors about his return to politics, reports infotag.md. Slusari confirmed that he supports the political bloc “Together” (“Împreună”), took part in drafting its electoral program on agriculture and rural development, and considers the plan “realistic and non-populist.” “We are proposing a completely different model of agriculture and the food industry, based on the European example of micro, small, and medium-sized farmers, who will ensure food security, the dominance of local agri-food products, reduce the trade balance deficit, and save our villages,” he noted. Concurrently, Slusari emphasized that he “does not intend to return to any leadership position in any of the parties within the bloc” and that he “is not seeking a spot on their electoral lists.” At the same time, he is convinced that the new cabinet of ministers cannot be effective without representatives from the bloc or its constituent parties.
