The special commission for the preliminary selection of candidates for the position of chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office conducted interviews today with two applicants.
As a result, Marcel Dumbravan, currently serving as acting chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, scored 8.7 points, while his deputy, Octavian Iachimovschi, received 8.1 points. The candidate to be proposed to the Prosecutor General for appointment must be approved by the Superior Council of Prosecutors, according to IPN News Agency.
The candidates admitted to the competition are given three days to submit any objections to the commission’s decision. If no objections are raised, the preliminary selection results will be forwarded to the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP), which will organize the final stage of the selection process. At this stage, the SCP will choose the candidate to be proposed to the Prosecutor General for official appointment as chief prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.
Marcel Dumbravan was appointed acting head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office on March 4, following the departure of Veronica Dragalin.
