Former Infrastructure Minister Andrei Spinu does not intend to run in this year’s parliamentary elections. Nevertheless, Spinu does not rule out a return to politics, but not in the near future, according to noi.md. “I never said that I was taking a break from politics or anything else. In November, when I left, I thought it would be better to step back for a while because there was a lot of speculation and I needed to let things calm down a bit. (...) Right now, I have no plans to return to politics – neither in these elections nor immediately after them. But I don’t rule out that I might return someday; life goes on. We’ll see. But at this stage – no,” said Andrei Spinu. Although he no longer holds official positions, Spinu emphasizes that he remains civically active and concerned about the future of the country: “I want to stay in Moldova, like many citizens of our country who see their future here, at home. What happens this autumn is very important to me, and not only in autumn, but in all the elections that are coming up. Therefore, I believe that my role as a citizen is to speak out on issues that I consider important. And I am not alone in this.” When asked whether he was considering forming a new party or joining an existing one, Spinu replied that he had not yet thought about it: “I didn’t think about what exactly would have to happen for me to take this step now or in the near future, but I would probably analyze the political context, whether there is a place and a need for it.” As for a possible return to government, Andrei Spinu does not rule out such a possibility, but clarified that there have been no specific discussions on this topic. “I was asked if I would return to the government, and I replied that it all depends on the situation. I do not rule out that I could accept the invitation. But I have not received any offers, and I have never discussed returning to the government, the electoral list or the party in any form,” Spinu said.
