The European Union Ambassador to Moldova believes that the Russian Federation is “dissatisfied” with the direction chosen by the citizens of our country and will attempt to influence the results of the parliamentary elections on 28 September. “We can expect attempts to influence the elections through vote buying or disinformation,” said the head of the EU delegation in Moldova, according to Radio Moldova. The European diplomat added that Moldovan citizens will decide in the September elections whether the Republic of Moldova will continue on its European path, which has been “consistently pursued over the past three years”. “We have seen countries that have seized this opportunity, but also countries that have slowed down or taken steps backwards. It would be a historic mistake if this were to happen in the case of the Republic of Moldova,” said Janis Mazeiks. According to a European official, Moldova’s accession to the EU “should not only be swift, but also credible”. “We must be sure that Moldova is ready to fulfil all the obligations of a member state. That is why I urge everyone to familiarize themselves with the EU documents. We are often asked why we do not criticize Moldova for this or that. The answer is: read the enlargement report. There you will find all our criticisms, formulated with the help of civil society,” said the European Union Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova.
