The Moldovan portal ZdG claims that Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban will no longer be able to enter the Eurozone. Romanian authorities state that they have not imposed an entry ban. According to ZdG sources, “Romanian authorities suspect that the leader of the National Alternative Movement (MAN) poses a threat to Romania’s national security.” Ceban is banned from entering all Schengen countries for a period of 5 years. Journalists from the publication attempted to contact Ion Ceban, as well as Natalia Ixari, press secretary for the mayor of the capital, to obtain comments on this matter, but at the time of publication, they had not provided any response. At the same time, Romanian authorities told the G4Media portal that they had not imposed a ban on the mayor of Chisinau entering Romania, but that a decision on this issue may already have been taken at European level. The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also did not decide to impose a ban on the mayor of Chisinau entering the country.
