Home / Politics / Government Accused Sor of Treason: Our Future Is Not Decided by Moscow
The government has classified as treason an event organized in Moscow by Ilan Sor, at which statements were made that our country should join the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
These statements by Sor were sharply criticized by government spokesman Daniel Voda at a press conference after the cabinet meeting, according to deshide.md.
“Such statements are not merely opinions, but part of a well-known scenario aimed at undermining the state and citizens of Moldova, written according to Russian propaganda guidelines and implemented by officials of the Russian Federation. I would like to draw attention to a telling moment in this event: there was no news in Russia, so the federal press lined up around the convicted fugitive, who is being used as a mouthpiece for the Kremlin’s interests in the Republic of Moldova,” Voda said.
“We want to make it clear and firm: our country is sovereign, with European aspirations and democratic institutions working for its citizens. Our future is not decided by Moscow, but only by the people of the Republic of Moldova. Those who plot against the people of Moldova will be held accountable before the law. Our position is unequivocal: such actions, statements and opinions expressed by the criminal Ilan Sor are nothing less than treason,” added the government spokesman.
The reaction came after Ilan Sor had organized a congress in Moscow for the Victory bloc, which includes several parties under his control. At this event, he stated that Moldova should join the CSTO, a military alliance led by Moscow that operates on the principle that “an attack on one member is an attack on all allies”.
