Slusari: Those Who Contributed to the Destruction of the Economy Were “Rewarded” with Salaries Exceeding 100,000 Lei

Former MP and Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alexandru Slusari sharply criticized the decision to appoint former Minister of Economy Dumitru Alaiba as a member of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM). “All those who significantly contributed to the destruction of the national economy over the past four years have been ‘punished’. They were given sinecures with salaries exceeding 100,000 lei,” Slusari wrote on social media, according to newtv.md. The former MP listed among them former Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, now a member of the NBM Supervisory Board; former Minister of Finance Dumitru Budianschi, currently Chair of the National Financial Market Commission; former Minister of Economy Sergiu Gaibu; and also Dumitru Alaiba. According to Slusari, all of them had been criticized even within the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS), left their government posts, but were later rewarded with “cozy” positions in state institutions: “They bear direct responsibility for the decline of Moldova’s economy. And yet, very comfortable posts with fat salaries were found for each of them. It saddens me deeply to see what is happening. Perhaps I’ve remained a bit politically naive, and I clearly remember how we, together with PAS, harshly criticized the actions of the Democratic Party, which are now being repeated by my former colleagues from the ACUM bloc,” Slusari added. As a reminder, Dumitru Alaiba was appointed as a member of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Moldova.
