The Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP) approved, by a margin of one vote, the report of the Commission for the Evaluation of Prosecutors concerning the former head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, Veronica Dragalin. With five votes in favor, the SCP adopted the commission’s report, concluding that Veronica Dragalin did not pass the evaluation procedure. As a result, she is prohibited from holding the position of prosecutor or any other position related to public service for a period of five years, reports unimedia.info. In late February 2025, a conflict erupted between Veronica Dragalin, who announced her resignation as head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, and SCP member Andrei Cebotari. The latter expressed “deep concern” over Dragalin’s recent statements, in which she claimed that “promotions made through the SCP are not based on merit.” In response, Veronica Dragalin accused him of thinking he is “above the law.”
