On Tuesday, the leaders of four parties announced the formation of a patriotic left-wing bloc. It includes the Party of Socialists, the Party of Communists, “Heart of Moldova”, and “Future of Moldova”. PSRM leader Igor Dodon stated at a briefing that the bloc was created to “respond to the expectations of a significant portion of voters and offer an alternative to the current government,” reports infotag.md. “At meetings with citizens, they told us: ‘Unite, and we will vote for you!’ That’s why we intend to enter Parliament and secure a majority to form a government. Today, a long-awaited desire is being fulfilled – the consolidation of left-wing and center-left political forces. Our sincere goal is to build a patriotic bloc. I hope that we, as leaders, will show political maturity and place the national interest of the country above party ambitions,” said Dodon. The leader of “Heart of Moldova”, Irina Vlah, sharply criticized the ruling Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), accusing it of a failed economic policy, mass emigration, and disconnect from national interests. According to her, continuing on the current path poses a threat to the statehood of the Republic of Moldova. The new bloc’s common platform is based on the principles of sovereignty, neutrality, the protection of Moldovan identity, and traditional values. In foreign policy, the bloc intends to promote a balanced partnership with both the East and the West, including the restoration of relations with the Russian Federation and a revision of all foreign policy orientations in line with national interests. “Unfortunately, the country is in danger, and if we don’t unite – we will lose it. Another four years, and Moldova won’t survive. These and other reasons brought us to the negotiating table. We are open to mobilization, consolidation, and saving our country,” said Vasile Tarlev, leader of the “Future of Moldova” party. The Chairman of the PCRM and former President of Moldova, Vladimir Voronin, took a more reserved stance, acknowledging the complexities of unification and the challenges of the upcoming election campaign. “The creation of an electoral bloc is a very complex and demanding process. We must be aware of all the problems and difficulties that lie ahead. We are not against the European direction, but the national interest of the Republic of Moldova, its sovereignty, and independence must be the top priority,” Voronin emphasized.
