The U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Moldova has announced the appointment of Nick Pietrowicz as the new Chargé d’Affaires in Moldova.
He succeeds Kevin Covert, who completed his short-term diplomatic mission in Chisinau and has returned to Washington, reports infotag.md.
Pietrowicz is an experienced diplomat and a special agent with the U.S. Diplomatic Security Service. He has previously served at various overseas posts, including Port-au-Prince (Haiti), Kabul (Afghanistan), N’Djamena (Chad), Luanda (Angola), Canberra (Australia), and Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Already familiar with Moldova, Pietrowicz held the position of Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Chisinau from 2008 to 2011. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and the Temple University School of Law. He is fluent in French, Portuguese, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, and Romanian. In his free time, he enjoys running, reading, and traveling across the U.S.
