The Modern Democratic Party of Moldova (MDPM), which includes several former members of the Democratic Party (DPM) previously led by Vlad Plahotniuc, has announced that it will take part in the parliamentary elections this autumn.
The party’s leader, Boris Foca, called on all former Democrats to unite around the political formation and run together in the elections, ziua.md reports.
“As chairman of the Modern Democratic Party, I announce that the political force I lead, which directly stems from the former DPM and the former Democratic government of the 2016-2019 period, has decided to fully participate in these elections. For us, this is not a simple formal exercise, but a deliberate and mature decision. We intend to offer the citizens of Moldova a real political alternative capable of leading the country out of the deepest crisis into which it has been driven by the PAS government – a government that is pro-European only in words, but in reality deeply anti-European and anti-democratic,” Boris Foca stated.
In turn, former Minister of Justice in the government of Pavel Filip, Vladimir Cebotari, called on his former colleagues to support the party in the current elections.
“These circumstances prompt me to make a clear and strong appeal to all my former colleagues from the Democratic Party who are now in different parties, have left politics, or have left or were forced to leave state institutions: dear colleagues, the situation in the country requires us to overcome regrets and disappointments and to engage in the process. Let us unite our experience, knowledge, and energy for the sake of a better future, for the country we will leave to those who come after us. Let us join forces on the platform of the Modern Democratic Party – a party that respects the past, knows how to learn from its own mistakes, and has the determination to look to the future with confidence,” Vladimir Cebotari stated.
It should be recalled that recently, the former chairman and founder of the Democratic Party of Moldova (DPM), Dumitru Diacov, addressed his former party colleagues with a call to unite and run together in the parliamentary elections this autumn.
